The first full day of Summer 2023 at Lake Owego was packed full of outdoor fun! The morning kicked off with the first Bunk Inspection. Campers cleaned furiously and filled trash bags, as Unit Leaders evaluated every bunk’s efforts in categories such as Beds, Bathroom, and Clothesline. Seniors and Hi-Seniors signed up for their first round of Choice activities, establishing their schedules for the week. Staff pitched their areas of expertise, enticing the campers to join them for biking, tennis, yoga, and many other options. Juniors spent time at the pool and on the courts.

Evening activity included two all-time favorites: Fox & Hound for Juniors, and Bombardment for Seniors/Hi-Seniors. Fox & Hound is a take on Hide & Seek, where campers chase counselors and collect cards worth different amounts of points. Bombardment, if you haven’t already heard about it from your camper, is a round-robin version of Dodgeball that takes place on the tennis courts. The team with the Last Man Standing is the winner. Last night, it was a nail-biter of a final, as underdogs bunk Sioux edged out reigning champs bunk Maverick A to claim the title of First Session Bombardment Champions. Well done, Seniors!
