My Experience: Costa Rica Leadership Program

This week, we have a guest post from former Lake Owego camper, Jacob McGrath, who completed our 11th grade leadership program last summer. He reflects on this unique and unforgettable experience below.

One of the best choices I ever made at camp was going to Costa Rica. It was an awesome experience and was a great opportunity to travel the world with my friends and to gain some new experiences. The best part by far was working with the Ticos (kids) at the camp we ran. Being able to run a camp for kids in Costa Rica was the main reason why I wanted to go on this trip. Every one of the kids was so nice and fun to be with and always had a positive attitude when we would play games with them.

The other amazing part of the trip was traveling the country. The beautiful landscape and jungle were breathtaking, along with the beaches that stretched for miles. Every place we stayed was unique in its own way and it was a blast to experience these places some of my best friends. Whether it was hiking through the jungle, walking along the beach, making new friends, or just working with the Ticos, going to Costa Rica was one of the most amazing experiences I have ever had and would recommend it to anyone interested in going!
