Today’s picture-perfect weather served as a stunning backdrop to multiple out-of-camp trips. A handful of Senior and Hi-Senior campers had the opportunity to waterski on Lake Wallenpaupack, while 8th graders from bunk Sioux and 9th graders from Navajo A embarked on separate canoe trips.
It was a busy day on the water!
Although our oldest campers, the “Tents,” will journey down the Delaware later in the summer on the 100-miler, there are smaller trips throughout the summer for younger campers who want to head out on the water for a few hours and paddle their cares away! Along with their grade-level counterparts from TimberTops, these Owegans were transported to the Mongaup boat launch where they boarded their 2-person canoes and set out on the 6 mile adventure. The outing concluded in the town of Matamoras, where the canoes were loaded onto the trailers and the campers boarded a bus back to camp.

Elsewhere, the Tents had a social gathering with the 11th graders from TimberTops and Pine Forest, ahead of their epic Costa Rica trip on Sunday! With the intention of giving the 3-camp group a chance to get to know one another better, there was a competition in which campers constructed paper boats to (hopefully) float across the water. Winners received ice cream sandwiches. More about the Costa Rica trip next week!
Tonight’s Hi-Senior evening activity was Capture the Flag, followed by Teen Canteen for the 10th graders. Seniors played Steal the Bacon, and Juniors played Toppling Towers — in which campers threw balls at a tower of athletic cones! This game was the brainchild of Junior Head Counselor Mike, and the boys had a blast!
Whether they played on the water or stuck to the fields and courts, it was an adventurous and active day for all Owegans!
