Though the Summer Solstice is still a few days away, the end of the school year has us thinking about nothing but camp. We say goodbye to teachers and hello to counselors, we trade laptops for Magic Cards and Catan, and we shift into our Owego mindset — singing Frontier Week songs, trading Jibbitz, lounging in hammocks, and walking arm-in-arm with our Brothers in Blue.

Our trunks are packed and ready to go. Haircuts are scheduled. Last-minute trips to the orthodontist and allergist will fill the remaining days until we are reunited. Some of us may travel with our families. Others will hang out with school friends. But on June 28th, we’ll all set our sights on the same destination: Lake Owego Camp for Boys.

So, how do we prepare ourselves to have the best summer ever? Though nothing is guaranteed, we can take certain measures to properly psych ourselves up.

Follow these 10 easy steps to ensure a seamless transition to Camp Life:

1. Choose your Official to wear on the first day of camp. Don’t pack it in your trunk!
2. Listen to your Spotify playlist of camp songs on repeat. Start NOW.
3. Decide if this is going to be the summer when you FINALLY appear in Scotty’s show. You won’t be sorry!
4. Pack your bus/car bag for the ride to camp. Campfire player? Check. Summer reading book? Of course!
5. Snapchat with your bunkmates to decide with whom you’ll be sharing a bunk bed.
6. Enjoy your favorite meal with your family, before B’s and D’s take over and a giant bowl of guacamole becomes a culinary highlight.
7. Try on your rain boots. Remember the Great Deluge of Frontier Week 2024?
8. Learn how to properly address an envelope, including where to place the stamp. The Camp Office thanks you in advance!
9. Practice your ping-pong/tennis/basketball skills so you can challenge Freedo to a face-off!
