The Hardest Working Staff in the Business

Are you ready?

Are you ready for Bombardment in the Silverdome, canoe trips on the Delaware River, SFA on the Junior Gathering Deck, and Magic the Gathering in the Picnic Grove?

One thing is certain. Owego is ready for YOU!

Your 2025 Owego staff, including veteran unit leaders and rookie counselors, has been on site since Monday participating in Team Building activities and working hard to ensure camp is in tip-top shape when you arrive on Saturday.

Every member of the staff has been busy making new friends and catching up with the old. Some familiar faces have reemerged after many years, their presence a comforting reminder that you can take the person out of the camp but you can’t take the camp out of the person.

And the heat!

Extreme might be too tame a word to describe the temperatures hovering over Counselor Training. One counselor was overheard telling another that if he stands precisely halfway between the Infirmary and Kyle’s Cabin, he just might feel a slight breeze. Suffice it to say, no one has complained about jumping in the pool for a swim test. The staff has shown great resilience and determination in helping to make Summer 2025 the best one yet!

Aside from learning the difference between “PV” and “The Ridge,” the new members of our staff have been initiated into the Owego Brotherhood via daily briefings on all things Owego. Whether it’s Rochambeau, SFA, or Rec Swim, no stone has been left unturned. By the end of the week, counselors will be assigned to a bunk, area heads will have the equipment they need to run a successful period, and everyone will understand the rules of Bombardment (well, almost everyone — some of us are still a little fuzzy after 6 summers).

Great care and attention has been given to all areas of camp. At the lake, the Wibits have been inflated, while inside the Health Center, the meds have been sorted and labeled. Arts and Crafts supplies inventoried. Job Wheels created. Bikes tuned up. Beds and cubbies counted. Nets hung. Ping Pong balls accounted for.

How long those ping pong balls will stick around is a different story altogether.

In all seriousness, what makes camp so special are the people. While you may improve your three-point shot by spending many choice periods in the HBC, you’ll come home in August talking about how cool your counselors were. The outstanding Owego staff of Summer 2025 is ready to gift their time and attention to all campers. Are you ready to meet some fantastic role models?

Lucky YOU!
