After some rain overnight, campers awakened to sunshine peeking out from behind the clouds. We had eggs and English muffins for breakfast, which was followed by bunk clean-up and inspection.
One of the jobs that campers will undertake in the next few days is laundry! It’s amazing how quickly a boy can burn through socks while at camp. Laundry will be sent out tomorrow. Basically, everyone strips his bed and dumps his own personal dirty laundry into the large bag shared by the bunk. Clothing and linens will be washed and returned to camp on Thursday. At that point, campers (and staff) begin the monumental task of sorting everything and putting it away. The life skills learned at camp are limitless!
In addition to our regularly scheduled bunk periods and choice activities, one of the biggest highlights of camp is now underway: Scotty’s show! The first session show is Aladdin. With 20 cast members, Aladdin will feature all age groups — from Juniors through Hi-Seniors! Here’s a sneak peek from Scotty himself:
“Where does the magic carpet ride take Aladdin? Why, to Lake Owego, of course! Filled with some songs from the Broadway and film versions of the musical, along with some other fun songs thrown in, the show features campers who have previously appeared in camp shows as well as some campers who will be making their Owego stage debuts this summer. The curtain rises on Saturday, July 19th!”

We can’t wait to see what Scotty creates!
Tonight’s evening activities were almost sidetracked by a late-afternoon thunderstorm that brought soaking rain to the entire area. But never fear! Even Mother Nature can’t keep us from the Great Outdoors! Tonight, the Juniors played kickball on the Upper Field, while Seniors had their turn at “Running Radios” and the Hi-Seniors enjoyed a good, old-fashioned BBQ cookout!

After evening activity, the 10th graders ventured to TimberTops for the first Teen Canteen of Summer 2025. Teen Canteen is a social mixer between Hi-Senior boys at Owego and girls at CTT. Snacks are served, music is played, and the co-ed mingling gets underway! One likely outcome of Teen Canteen is the significant increase in intercamp mail, starting tomorrow. Remember S.W.A.K? Let the letter-writing commence!
